I would like to thank the British Columbia Arts Council for their support through their "Project Assistance for Creative Writers" grant, which in the last year has allowed me to work "almost" full time on my new novel, "The Genoese Bride," a story set between two harbour cities most dear to me – Vancouver and Genoa, in Italy – and two time periods, the present and the fascist era up to WWII. The connecting element? The mystery surrounding an expressionist painting titled "The Genoese Bride." The novel will be published in 2023.
Painting in the picture: Wassily Kandinsky, Small Harbour/Piccolo porto (Rapallo, Genoa, Liguria).
Arianna Dagnino, author of The Afrikaner (Guernica, Toronto). Le impronte di Eva (Ensemble, Rome), and the collection of poems Seaborn Eyes (Ekstasis, Victoria, BC).
